Failing to undergo home quarantine: Pingtung County Government imposed a penalty of NTD100,000 without leniency
Category:World News
Unit:Foreign Affairs Section

The number of imported confirmed COVID-19 cases has largely increased in recent weeks and most of the confirmed cases come from Europe. To enhance anti-epidemic measures, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced on the 18th that all people who entered the country from Europe, Egypt, Turkey and Dubai (including transfer flights) between March 5 to March 14 would have their health status tracked; and that those who complied with above conditions must proactively contact local township/city office. CECC further announced that, starting from 12 a.m. of March 18, no restriction will be allowed for foreigners, except those who have obtained permission in advance; and that all people to enter the country must undergo home quarantine of 14 days.

On the 19th of this Month, Public Health Bureau, Pingtung County Government received a report from a citizen, informing that a Thai migrant worker who has to undergo home quarantine as he entered the country on March 18 went to work the next day. As the reported case is suspicious of violating quarantine rules by leaving the quarantine location, the Public Health Bureau immediately went to the factory to understand the situation together with the police. As the reported case was true, the violator was imposed with a penalty of NTD100,000 in accordance with Article 58 of Communicable Disease Control Act and Article 15 of "Special Act for Prevention and Treatment of Severe Special Infectious Pneumonia and Bailout Revitalization".
