The task of maintaining public security during Chinese New Year began on January 17th at 10 p.m. and will extend to February 7th, a period of 22 days. In its resolution to carry out the security tasks of the Chinese New Year in order to maintain public order and insure a peaceful holiday period, the Pingtung County Police Bureau (PTPB) now has its command a well-drilled and coordinated group comprised of police, military police and civilians. A drill involving these groups was recently conducted. It was observed by Magistrate Tsao along with PTPB Commissioner Jhu and Chiefs of all volunteer police groups. After the drill, they went to Chaojhou, Wanluan and Neipu Townships to show their appreciation for the hard work of the front-line police officers.
Police work will be focused on three specific areas during this time: 1) heightened public security, 2) smooth traffic, and 3) courteous and efficient service. In addition to maintaining security and traffic, the PTPB will provide the special services as follows, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week:
1)Police escort for those withdrawing or depositing large sums of money from financial institutions
2)House patrols for residents absent during the holidays
3)Hourly police broadcasts, as well as instant traffic conditions
4)Bicycle rest stops at Pingtung police stations
Dial 110, 08-7322598 or call any local police stations if you need any of the above services or have any questions about security.
